Beveiliging Amerikaanse luchthavens deugt niet

De beveiliging op Amerikaanse luchthavens is abominabel. Dat is gebleken uit een undercoveroperatie van Homenland Securtity, de dienst die instaat voor "the concerted national effort to ensure a homeland that is safe, secure, and resilient against terrorism and other hazards where American interests, aspirations, and ways of life can thrive to the national effort to prevent terrorist attacks within the United States, reduce the vulnerability of the U.S. to terrorism, and minimize the damage from attacks that do occur".

Agenten van Homeland Security, die zich voordeden als gewone passagiers, konden in 95 procent van de gevallen probleemloos wapens en explosieven aan boord smokkelen.

Hoe de agenten precies te werk gingen en om welke 'grote' luchthavens het gaat is niet geweten, want het rapport is classified. De directeur van de Transport Security Administration (TSA) - dat deel uitmaakt van van Homeland Security -  is alvast vervangen.
